Effective Literacy Website #2

 

My second review on an effective literacy website is on ABC Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress(https://assets.readingeggs.com/brochures/reading_eggs_eggspress_user_guide_brochure-fp-da490864.pdf) ABC Reading Egg is an online learning platform that is designed to support early reading skills in a fun and motivating way. The program has hundreds of features and guided reading lessons. It has interactive activities that teaches younger children phonic, letter recognition and sight words.  It is mainly for ages 1 to 6 to have essential reading, comprehension, spelling and grammar skills. The program includes 220 comprehension lesson, 216 spelling lessons ad over 2,000 eBooks in the library. It has teacher guide includes some simple steps to follow, as for teachers, they can differentiate learning, assign work, check students’ progress and access detail student report. For this learning site, you can register for a trail or join an existing school.  The content of managing this learning site is quite easy to navigate through the reading eggs preview lessons with some extra student and teacher resources. You can change and review student’s current levels individually or multiple. The Assignments are current or can be create as new assignment from the lessons and library book. 

As a teacher, I enjoy learning about different resources that can help my students to start at the very young age to be able to enjoy reading. Learning about this site, I know it will be a great practice for the younger kids to start early literacy. The eBooks are great resources that will get the children to start with.

     Thank you, Dr. Rivera and to my classmates for making the learning experience in class enjoyable and worthwhile. I appreciate all the information shared online, email, and on text.  This class has made teaching with technology less daunting and challenging as we face a new level of technology-literate learners.  Even old dogs (like myself) are still able to learn new tricks.      Good luck to everyone as we continue to move forward with the Program. However, parents and teachers can sign up for free accounts to monitor the progress of their child or students. Parents can sign up for a 6 month subscription of $44.99 for the Premium Family account, which gives parents complete mobile access, access to link up to 5 devices, ad free experience, ability to save favorite games, set a timer, control game category, and access to worksheets, activity pages and teacher resources. The Premium Teacher account gives teachers the same features, but up to 30 devices can be linked for an annual subscription of $69.99. ABCYa! ranges from Kindergarten to 6th grade.
