Effective Literacy website #6

The Google Lit Trip (googlelittrips.org) is a nonprofit website founded by educator Jerome Burg, which uses Google Earth to take students on virtual literature tours. The teachers and students will have the opportunity to travel with characters from a particular piece of literature through their adventures and journeys. This website provides reading stories that students will have the ability to read and do comprehension questions. Which they will read a story and make several “stops” at actual locations in the book. At each stop, there are placemarks with pop-up windows containing a variety of resources including essential reading questions, thinking-about-the-story conversation starters, vocabulary words, related pictures, and videos. Through these Lit Tips, the students will construct their learning of different places. They will engage in each learning activity on this website, which will lead them to improve their literacy skills.

By navigating more on the Lit Trips, the teachers need to complete membership registration before beginning a Lit Trip tour to his or her students. The Lit Trip tour is a great literacy lesson for teachers to use with their students. The teacher can use this website by having the students have a field trip. By doing more research on Lit Trip, I learned that most students will enjoy learning each resource that is provided. I believe that if I will use this website in my classroom, my students will be able to have the ability to meet their learning needs in literacy and other areas in other subjects.
