ILA Newsletter Weekly Project: Effective Literacy Website #4
Funbrain (https://www.funbrain.com) is an interactive website that offers educational tasks for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Literacy and math skills are reinforced through fun activities for children. Hundreds of free games, novels, comics, and videos are readily available on Funbrain to help students improve their arithmetic, reading, language arts, and problem-solving skills. Educators and parents can certainly rely on this website to provide a fun and safe environment for their students at home and at school.
The resources on Funbrain can effortlessly be searched for information based on grade level, difficulty level, or by keyword. Here, Funbrain is organized in the following sections: games, videos, reading, playground, and math zone. The most popular games and activities, as well as those that have just been added, are instantly shown on the home page. Problem Solved, DC Super League, Young Justice, Kidz Bop, Highlights, and other video series are also available for students to view. On the other hand, the language arts games are designed to improve skills in spelling, grammar, and word meaning. What’s great about the games on Fun Brain is that they help students build on what they have learned in class while also learning new skills in reading, math, and problem solving. As a result, the site is an excellent supplement for students who require extra practice outside of school hours.
On top of that, Funbrain users can access digital books. The reading library has a good selection of graphic novels and popular titles such as the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and the Judy Moody books. To access these books, go to the upper right corner of the screen and select Reading. Following that, you will be shown thumbnail previews of the featured books for various grade levels. The grade levels of the books, as before, are clearly displayed on their thumbnail previews. To read a book, simply click on its thumbnail to view its story description and information then select the right arrow to open the book and begin reading.
Without a doubt, Funbrain provides a wealth of engaging, interactive learning games and activities for children, as well as tools for parents and teachers. Teachers, however, should be mindful that multiple advertisements will appear on each page, and students will need to watch a video ad before playing any game or watching any video. Nonetheless, Funbrain creates an environment in which students can learn interactively. Allowing your students to visit Funbrain will introduce them to a new world of fun and learning.
